When Toei does a project like this, I expect awesome visual fidelity. Because this has been an ONA series, the quality isn’t quite matching up with the vision I’ve seen in the ONA and episode 1. This series will release 5 episodes (1 per month) at 10 minutes long, which should do wonders for the story in comparison to how rushed the ONA felt.

This actually looks like a pretty interesting series. It is based off a series of light novels and it is being produced by A-1, which recently brought us Sword Art Online and Space Brothers. So I kind of think there might be a lot of potential for this to be one of the most popular series this season. I am slightly concerned after watching the trailer that it might turn into some kind of school life anime and when it comes to their age, I tend to not like ones about 14 year olds. It is a sci-fi fantasy show though, which I really like. Also it has both Daisuke Namikawa and Hiroaki Hirata in it, which are fantastic voice actors. If anything, this might be a series I come to hate and Amuro comes to love… cause you know.. the loli characters.

Heard you like bishies… so here’s a shoujo story starring them and a girl. Can’t say this is in my wheelhouse, but shoujo has a way with all of us on Anivision so it’s got enough of a chance to maybe be a good show.

From what I understand this series will be done in shorts instead of a long episode. Something more akin to Nichijou or Arwakawa Under the Bridge. I am somewhat interested in this show because it is pretty popular in Japan, spinning off a stage play and a prequel manga. I love comedies and the darker the better. So this has a lot of potential to be good. The mangaka has produced many titles, but I haven’t read any of them. Hopefully this show will provide a lot of laughs, but I will keep my expectations low since I don’t really have too much to go on. Not even a trailer is out for it.

Brain’s Base is doing 2 shows this season and this one actually looks pretty good. For a genre that is overrun with generic shows, this one actually looks pretty funny. Brain’s Base doesn’t do a lot of comedies though, but from what I hear the material is actually really good. It is a widely popular manga, so if the manga is good, then the anime can be pretty good. The trailer doesn’t do much for me though, but I did like how they parodied quite a bit in it. I tend to love parodies and if the characters are good, then this might end up being one of my favorites from the new season. One other thing is that this series stars both Haruka Tomatsu and Tatsuhisa Suzuki, two voice actors that are no strangers to comedies. That is another reason I am excited about the series. If they bring their A game, then this is bound to be a hit.

I really like A-1 Pictures, but there is a line I draw for something I won’t watch. This is based off of an arcade card game, so I am not too impressed. It looks more like a Saturday morning cartoon or something you’d find on Huboom! or Disney Channel. For those who like series like this, more power to you. You couldn’t hope for a better studio and cast. As for me, I think I’ll pass on this one.

I adore the Hayate the Combat Butler anime…just not enough to ever go out and read the manga. Which is why I’m glad that we’re finally getting more animated Hayate. This time around the series is supposedly a reboot and has nothing really to do with the two previous series. That’s slightly disappointing, but it’s nice to see that the author behind the manga is working on this. Let’s hope it brings along plenty of plot to go along with the humor this time around.

#Thoughts
This is probably the show I’m most looking forward to. It’s mother f-ing Kyoto Animation, and I’m a fan of just about all things Kyoani. The premise here of a kid who has moved on from his delusions of being a hero being dragged back into that world by a girl with those same delusions seems interesting, and I’m all for romantic tension. KyoAni hasn’t disappointed me yet, so I’m as excited as can be.

Took a lot of work and a lot of nagging, but we finally got it up~

  • http://www.anivision.org/ Amuro1X

It’s interesting to see that we don’t agree on a single thing in our wrap up. Overall, the season is looking pretty good, and that’s coming from someone that ended up watching way more anime than they thought they would in Summer.

  • Animeblue

    Ahhh……no person of Interest segment

Jrow: Kyousogiga is probably going to be like Redline, great visuals and decent story

Steev: Shin Sekai Yori is already popular among the sakuga anime fans due the names that attached to it and of it’s potential that it have. And Steev I on the other hand love generally coming age stories, but not really key on sci fi stories. With that said, I’m looking forward to how Masashi Ishihama do as an director.

And Steev, I do agree with you that Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun looks pretty good and that it could be hit. But I don’t necessarily think that Hiro Kaburaki( Kimi ni Todoke) and Noboru Takagi(Baccano!,Durarara!!), can make this story work

Jrow, Like you said as time when on, Jormungand became one of the more enjoyable series of the Spring Season. But I do hope that the second season don’t end up feeling rush like the first season.

Amuro, I, myself adore the Hayate the Combat Butler anime…well the first season anyway. And I do admit that I only checking this reboot out because of Masashi Kudo. About Chuunibyou, I have pretty much the same thoughts as you

Steev: From what I read from Btooom! and from what I seen from anime key visuals, Btooom! could be another mega hit for Madhouse like Highschool of the Dead or an huge disappointment like Guilty Crown.

Jrow, the only thing I can say about K is that it’s has lot potential to be some good, but I only seeing that only the art and animation will be great.

Amuro, an PG13 Yosuga no Sora ??

Steev , I’m agreed with you on Bones stuff, but seeing that Masahiro Ando is directing Zetsuen no Tempest and that Tempest is another work from Kyou. I quite looking forward to this despise Bones track record as lately

Xcom, I have my tissues ready and waiting;)

Amuro, yeah the anime visual looks like your stand bishouen design and the first chapter of manga didn’t really leave an impression on me. But as the story goes the series got really good, even though I don’t really read it anymore.

About JoJo`s Bizarre Adventure, all I have to say is David Production better not mess this up or I’ll have to nerd rage.

Out of all the new shounen series that coming out this season, I would say Magi is the one I’m looking forward to the most especially after reading their plans for the adaptation. I just hope that Hiroyuki Yoshino, know what he doing because he really don’t have an good track record. Guilty Crown and Seikon no Qwaser anyone ?

Steev, when I first read synopsis of Suki-tte Ii na yo, I initial though this Japanese drama, (which the name escape me at the moment). Which was pretty good I must say, although I’m afraid that Suki turn out just Natsuyuki Rendezvous.

Jrow, like I said before my thoughts on Psycho-Pass is pretty much the same as your so I’ll just say this: So get we’ll get see what Hitman Reborn would like if it had an budget.

Most Anticipated: Magi/Chuuninbyou demo koi ga shitai!/ Shin Sekai Yori:
    Sakuga fest

    Summer’s Darkhorse: Btooom/Psycho-Pass/ Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun :
The Hollywood’s blockbusters or it’s flops

Please Don’t Make Me Watch This!: Girls und Panzer/Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo:
I’m getting little bit tired of these shows

    • http://www.anivision.org/ Jrow

As my dude Foshizzel would say… epic comment by you!

Person of Interest – Well, if there’s any reason to bring back the Person of Interest segment I introduced, then this would be it. Funnily, I never thought of the CBS show until just now.

Hayate no Gotoku – I’m more concerned than cautiosly optimistic. The 2nd season was kinda just more and didn’t move me the same way Season 1 did. If this version of Hayate sticks with parody as a comedic crutch, then I personally might not see to the end of the series.

JoJo – The way steev explains how the manga is written, I’m trying to piece together a couple thoughts. Is there a chance we could see power rushing the same way with Zetman? The style of writing seems to be different, but just the sheer amount of volumes and trying to fit one story into a season of XX amount of episodes is incredibly tough for producers.
Secondly, even though I have no idea how much manga can fit into what of an anime, but could David Production take a gamble with a multi-cour episode series and see if it makes enough bank to either continue on or just stop after completion of one of these arcs?

Magi – I just searched Hiroyuki Yoshino (odd that there’s a seiyuu and staffer with the same name), and boy are you right AnimeBlue.

Suki-tte Ii na yo – Is it just me, or does this not look like typical ZEXCS? I’m more accustomed to their crappy fantasies of recent and am looking forward to this series…

Psycho-Pass – Hitman Reborn with a budget… sounds pretty BAMF to me.

      • Animeblue

Jojo: From my understanding they’ll only animate the first part (Phantom Blood) of the story and maybe part 2( Battle Tendency). I don’t necessarily think Jojo will be rush like Zetman since Zetman was basically them trying ride off of Tiger and Bunny success. I think they will follow the recent Shounen Jump adaptations where they adapt an arc or two then stop and wait out the DVD/Blu-rays goes.

If they plan on 26 episodes seasons, the two first arcs be adapted without feeling rush since the first arc is 55 chapters and the second arc is approx 69 chapters. I could see them doing that if the series is well received in both Japan and of the western audience.

Magi: reading out they plan on adapting the series gives hope that it turn out to be alright.

No it isn’t just you when I thought someone else was producing this until I saw you guys preview

Jrow, what I mean by my previews statement, is that I can finally see what Akira Amano’s design would have looked like, if Reborn had an bigger budget

    • http://www.anivision.org/ Amuro1X

Ah, Blue, I love your blocks of text. I know you’re a fan of Sakuga, so it’s no surprise you’d be interested in Chuuninbyou. Have you managed to watch the “Lite” episode yet? It was short, but I found it rather funny. Has me looking forward to it even more.
